For my EDGE Project, I have had the opportunity to intern at Leavitt Group Enterptises (LGE) as a Regional Controller's Assistant (RCA). LGE is a well-known insurance brokerage company, owning 40 percent or more of many insurance agencies throughout the United States. This internship focuses on the accounting operations which LGE provides for those insurance agencies. This internship has allowed me to work closely with controllers at LGE Headquarters as well as employees at the LGE Accounting Center to gain knowledge in the field of accounting. I have completed day-to-day accounting tasks such as bank reconciliations, running reports, creating journal entries, entering commissions into the accounting system, as well as many other projects that controllers need assistance with. During this internship I have been able to work around 20 hours per week and I am able to do so up until I have graduated from Southern Utah University. This internship has helped me to prepare for my future career as a Certified Public Accountant by allowing to me practice the skills which I have learned in the classroom under real-life circumstances.
